2012-04-25The Amherst Jazz Ensemble traveled to Ohio State University to participate in the 35th annual jazz festival. Out of fifteen bands from around Ohio, Amherst performed second to last. Senior Alex Shernit and junior Damian Feliciano were awarded the opportunity to participate in next year’s All-state Honors Band, and the ensemble was named one of four “most outstanding performances of the day.”View
2012-04-16The Swing Club and Cultural Committee held a swing dance at Shupe Elementary School. Taught by professional dance instructors, the students learned multiple different dances while being played a large variety of swing music. View
2012-03-30Bryan Naelitz was one of 5 students out of 1200 chosen for The University Scholars Program at Washington University. This program gives selected students the opportunity to be admitted simultaneously to undergraduate study and to the School of Medicine. The dual admission gives highly motivated and focused students, like Bryan, an early orientation to a medical career. Bryan will be attending Washington University in St. Louis for the next 8 years. 2012-03-19The Science Olympiad Team was very successful at regionals on Saturday, March 17. Hosted at the Lorain County Community College, the team placed second and qualified to compete at the state level. View
