2009-04-30John (l.), Nolan, and Ryan reported on the progress of the Amherst Robotics Team at the April 27 School Board meeting. During the team's rookie year, it placed fourth out of approximately forty-six teams in the FIRST Robotics Competition, a program created to provide high school youth with an opportunity to put their problem-solving skills to use. Teams are challenged to solve a common problem in a six-week time frame using a standard kit of parts and common set of rules. Students are rewarded for excellence in design, demonstrated team spirit, professionalism and maturity, and the ability to overcome obstacles.View

October 13, 2010: Heather has been named a Commended Student in the 2011 National Merit Scholarship Program. Heather placed among the top five percent of the more than 1.5 million students who entered the 2011 competition by taking the PSAT last fall at Amherst Steele High School.
