Camp Invention Hat Day Promotion
Camp Invention is promoting their camp by encouraging students to design and wear their own hat on May 20th. Read all the guidelines here.

New Student Registration Dates-May 3rd 4-7 pm
We are now scheduling registration appointments for Kindergarten and new student registrations. Appointments are available on Tuesday morning or Thursday afternoons.Please call the office at 988-8670 to schedule your individual appointments.We are hosting the last on site registration night for families May 3rd from 4:00-7:00 pm in the Powers Staff Lounge. This will be our final on site opportunity to register for Fall 2016. Please visit our website to view and print the required registration documents and student registration forms. Please bring all the required documents to your appointment. We cannot accept documents as proof of residency if they do not appear on the list.    
Second Annual Color Run
Marion L. Steele High School is hosting the Second Annual 5K Color Run on May 7th. You can donate and register for the event online or by downloading the registration form and turning it into Steele by 2pm May 6th. Everyone is invited to participate whether you run, jog, or walk. Bring the whole family! The late fees have been dropped so you can register today and pay the original price; however, shirts and color packets may not be available as we have a very limited number of extras. Call Tammy Lacey at 984-3631 with questions. 
 
Youth Soccer Camp
The Amherst 2016 Steele Boys & Girls Youth Soccer Camp is scheduled for June 20th through June 23rd at the Amherst Junior High School. There are two sessions for ages 4-7 and ages 8-14. If interested, mail the Youth Soccer Camp registration form and check to the address on the registration form. Please email dbiedenbach@yahoo.com with any questions. 
Extra Year Books Available To Purchase
We have some extra Year Books for sale in the main office for $ 21.00 while the supply lasts. Please call or stop in the office to purchase one. Checks should be made out to Powers PTO.  
Open Enrollment Extended
The Amherst Exempted Village School District will continue to accept Open Enrollment Applications for the 2016-2017 school year until May 15th. If you have any questions, please contact Patti Killen at 988-1979. 
Amherst Summer Swim Team
Registration is open for the Amherst Summer Swim Team, which is a part of the North Coast Swim League and competes in dual meets against area teams. Practices are held weekday mornings at the Anna Schmauch Memorial Pool at Maude Needing Park. Coaches provide swimming instruction for all ability levels. Camp Invention is Back!
Camp Invention is coming back to Amherst this summer for children entering grades 1 - 6! Camp Invention will run from June 13 - 17 at Nord Middle School.  Check out the Camp Invention flyer for more information and details regarding the early registration discount if you sign up before March 21!

If you would like to create a PowerSchool Parent account to access your child's grades and information, please use the attached PowerSchool Parent Account document and the PowerSchool Parent iPad document. Since 1986, the Amherst Schools Educational Foundation has awarded more than $366,000 in teacher grants and almost $200,000 in student scholarships within the Amherst community. To make a contribution to the Amherst Schools Educational Foundation, simply go to the Community Foundation of Greater Lorain County's "Make A Gift Now" webpage and type "Amherst" in the Keyword section of the donation tool bar. Select the Amherst Schools Endowment Fund or the Amherst Schools Fine Arts Endowment Fund to make a donation. It's that easy! And remember, your donation is "A gift that gives forever"!
