Summer Office Hours and Information
The Powers School office will be closed from June 17-July 31st. During that time new student registration appointments can be scheduled by calling Mrs. Overdorff at 988-1903 at the Board of Education 185 Forest Street.  
Lake Erie Crushers - Amherst Community Night
The Lake Erie Crushers are hosting an Amherst Community Night on Sunday, July 24th at 5:05 p.m. Gates open at 4:05 p.m. and home box tickets are $9 each! Order your tickets through this Amherst Community Night link and the PTOs will earn a minimum of $3 per ticket! Refer to this Crushers Game flyer for more information! 
Summer Food Service Program
All children ages 1 through 18 are eligible to receive free meals during the summer months at participating program sites. Individuals ages 19 through 21 who have been identified as having mental or physical disabilities and are following Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) through their current enrollment in educational programs also eligible for free summer meals. The closest program site to Amherst is Oakwood Elementary School in Elyria (925 Spruce Street). The program begins on June 13th and ends on August 5th. Days of operation are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 11:30 - 12:30 p.m. For more information, call 1-866-3-HUNGRY (486479). 
Important Dates For Fall 2016
Powers Open House will be held on August 15th from 4:30-5:30 p.m. The first day of school for Grades 1 and 2 is August 17th. First graders come to the gym on the first day. Second graders go directly to their homerooms. Kindergarten Orientation is August 18th from 10:00-11:00 a.m. We suggest this be for parents only! Kindergarten's first day is August 22nd. Students can arrive in the gym from 8:10-8:30 a.m.  
Fall-Class Lists and Bussing Information
Class lists will be posted on the school web pages on August 9th after 3:30 pm. There will also be a printed copy on the lobby doors for families to check.  Bus schedules will be printed in the Amherst News Times one week prior to the start of school. You can also check the Transportation web page for information.   
Supply Lists for 2016-2017
The 2016-2017 Supply Lists are posted on the district's School Supply Lists webpage. If parents are interested in ordering pre-made supply lists online (K-6), the district is using the SchoolKidz Supply Kit Program. Why fight long lines this summer to find every single item on your child's supply list? SchoolKidz offers each grade level supply list in a boxed kit that is delivered to your child's desk on the first day of school! Below are the SchoolKidz flyers for each building and the ordering information. Online orders will be accepted from now until June 3rd.

School Fees 2016-2017
The Amherst Board of Education approved the 2016-2017 school fees at the May 17th Board Meeting. The school fees are posted on the School Fees webpage!

Since 1986, the Amherst Schools Educational Foundation has awarded more than $366,000 in teacher grants and almost $200,000 in student scholarships within the Amherst community. To make a contribution to the Amherst Schools Educational Foundation, simply go to the Community Foundation of Greater Lorain County's "Make A Gift Now" webpage and type "Amherst" in the Keyword section of the donation tool bar. Select the Amherst Schools Endowment Fund or the Amherst Schools Fine Arts Endowment Fund to make a donation. It's that easy! And remember, your donation is "A gift that gives forever"!
