2-Hour Early Dismissal on Last Day of School
The last day of school for Nord students will be on Wednesday, June 1st. Students will be dismissed 2 hours earlier than normal. Car riders and walkers will be dismissed at 12:38, while bus riders will be dismissed at 12:45. 
Supply Lists for 2016-2017
The 2016-2017 Supply Lists are posted on the district's School Supply Lists webpage. If parents are interested in ordering pre-made supply lists online (K-6), the district is using the SchoolKidz Supply Kit Program. Why fight long lines this summer to find every single item on your child's supply list? SchoolKidz offers each grade level supply list in a boxed kit that is delivered to your child's desk on the first day of school! Below are the SchoolKidz flyers for each building and the ordering information. Online orders will be accepted from now until June 3rd. 
School Fees 2016-2017
The Amherst Board of Education approved the 2016-2017 school fees at the May 17th Board Meeting. The school fees are posted on the School Fees webpage! 
Summer Solutions
Interested in keeping your child academically engaged over the summer for just a few minutes a day? Summer Solutions provides skill practice for students in a workbook format that will be directly shipped to your home! If interested, use the information on the following flyers to order your workbooks: Powers, Harris, Nord, and AJH. 
Camp Invention is Back!
Camp Invention is coming back to Amherst this summer for children entering grades 1 - 6! Camp Invention will run from June 13 - 17 at Nord Middle School.  Check out the Camp Invention flyer for more information and details regarding the early registration discount if you sign up before March 21! 
Summer Food Service Program
All children ages 1 through 18 are eligible to receive free meals during the summer months at participating program sites. Individuals ages 19 through 21 who have been identified as having mental or physical disabilities and are following Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) through their current enrollment in educational programs also eligible for free summer meals. The closest program site to Amherst is Oakwood Elementary School in Elyria (925 Spruce Street). The program begins on June 13th and ends on August 5th. Days of operation are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 11:30 - 12:30 p.m. For more information, call 1-866-3-HUNGRY (486479). 
Girls Basketball Youth Camp
The Amherst Comets Girls Basketball Youth Camp is being held Monday, June 6th - Thursday, June 9th at the Amherst Junior High School. The cost is $65 per camper and the checks should be made payable to "Comet Athletic Boosters". Please download this Girls Basketball Youth Camp Flyer and Registration Form. 
Youth Volleyball Camp
The 2016 Amherst Youth Volleyball Camp will be held Monday, June 13, through Thursday, June 16, in the Steele High School Gym. The camp clinician is Amherst Grad and current professional volleyball player, Deme Morales. The cost is $55 per camper. Please download the registration form. 
Youth Soccer Camp
The Amherst 2016 Steele Boys & Girls Youth Soccer Camp is scheduled for June 20th through June 23rd at the Amherst Junior High School. There are two sessions for ages 4-7 and ages 8-14. If interested, mail the Youth Soccer Camp registration form and check to the address on the registration form. Please email with any questions. 
Lake Erie Crushers - Amherst Community Night
The Lake Erie Crushers are hosting an Amherst Community Night on Sunday, July 24th at 5:05 p.m. Gates open at 4:05 p.m. and home box tickets are $9 each! Order your tickets through this Amherst Community Night link and the PTOs will earn a minimum of $3 per ticket! Refer to this Crushers Game flyer for more information!

Since 1986, the Amherst Schools Educational Foundation has awarded more than $366,000 in teacher grants and almost $200,000 in student scholarships within the Amherst community. To make a contribution to the Amherst Schools Educational Foundation, simply go to the Community Foundation of Greater Lorain County's "Make A Gift Now" webpage and type "Amherst" in the Keyword section of the donation tool bar. Select the Amherst Schools Endowment Fund or the Amherst Schools Fine Arts Endowment Fund to make a donation. It's that easy! And remember, your donation is "A gift that gives forever"!
