2011-07-29A portrait of Walter G. Nord hangs in the entranceway of Nord Middle School. In 1919, Mr. Nord founded the American Specialty Company in Amherst and the Nordson Company a few years later. He was president of the Amherst School Board in 1922, but resigned to serve as Amherst’s Mayor from 1924 through 1926. He returned to serve on the Board of Education again from 1928 to 1935. In 1951, Mr. Nord was knighted by King Gustav VI of Sweden for his efforts to improve Swedish-America relations.View

She was also presented with a certificate for her continued excellence in the teaching field. The Jackson homeroom won the track and field meet for the sixth grade. The Kerschner homeroom won the track and field meet for the fifth grade.View
