OAA TESTS ARE APRIL 23RD (READING) AND APRIL 25TH (MATH)
THIS WEEK, WEEKLY PROGRESS REPORTS WILL BE SENT HOME THURSDAY INSTEAD OF WEDNESDAY.
PARENTS: I AM CURRENTLY UNABLE TO ACCESS THE POWERSCHOOL GRADEBOOK PROGRAM, SO I CANNOT LOAD GRADES IN AT THIS TIME. I WILL CATCH UP AS SOON AS THIS PROBLEM IS FIXED.
PLEASE CHECK YOUR CHILD'S MATH HOMEWORK.
If you check your child's homework nightly and see a recurring problem, please let me know. You can send a note in with your child or email me.
These last weeks of school will concentrate heavily (but not exclusively) on working with fractions. Many of these concepts are quite challenging. Knowledge of multiplication facts will make working with fractions much easier in several ways.
READING:
We are currently reading The Mouse and the Motorcycle, by Beverly Cleary. It is a classic in children's literature, about a young boy (Keith) on a trip with his parents who befriends a mouse (Ralph) that lives in the hotel in which the family is staying. The two have much in common as they learn about responsibility, freindship, and maturity.
As we read, we will be reviewing reading comprehension skills such as characterization, problem/solution, cause/effect, theme, and making judgements and decisions. We will also focus on connecting information from fiction with nonfiction information, using nonfiction selections about mice.
