Amherst Participates in Farm to School
We are excited to announce that we are partnered with Quarry Hill Orchards, a local apple orchard in neighboring Erie County to source our local fresh apples for the 2015-2016 school year. The apple farmers at Quarry Hill Orchards will be able to assist us with 10 different tasty, delicious, crispy and juicy apple varieties on the menu from August through early spring. Quarry Hill Orchards already works with several grocery stores and has a reputation for quality service and keeps regular food safety as one of their top priorities. We are hoping to expand the program with other fresh produce selections the following school year. For more information about our students' apples, go to the Quarry Hill Orchards website!

Open House - August 16
We are looking forward to meeting you during AJH’s open house scheduled on Sunday, August 16, from 5:00-6:00PM.  Open house at AJH is a very simple process.  The purpose of the open house is to give students and their families an opportunity to come into the building, receive their schedules, and meet their teachers.  To receive your schedule, report directly to the gym.  Once you have your schedule, students can then tour the building and locate the different classrooms they will be reporting to during the school day.  They will also receive their locker number and combination so they can practice opening their locker.  Almost all teachers will be here on Sunday evening to introduce themselves and help students feel more comfortable before the first day of school.

PowerSchool Parent Account
If you would like to create a PowerSchool Parent account to access your child's grades and information, please use the attached PowerSchool Parent Account document and the PowerSchool Parent iPad document. You may also find these downloadable documents on our website under Parent Resources or Forms and More. (If you are new to the district or are a Kindergarten parent, you will be receiving a letter with this information specifically for you and your children within the next few days.)
E-mail Update
The Amherst Schools will be sending two or three updates a month via e-mail to parents beginning in mid-September. Updates will highlight student achievements, innovative classrooms, district operations, and plans. Videos may be included as well. If you are interested in receiving these updates, simply email our EMIS Secretary, Patti Killen, and include your name, names of your children, and your e-mail address. Thank you and Go Comets!
