Report Cards
Report cards will not be mailed home this year.  Students grades will be available on-line.  Parents and students are also welcome to pick up their final report card in the AJH office beginning Monday, June 7.  The office will be open from 7:00-3:30 Monday – Friday until June 30.  Have a great summer!

FREE Athletic Physicals
FREE athletic physicals will be offered on June 5th from 1:00 - 6:00 p.m. at The Center for Orthopedics in Sheffield Village.  Please call 440-329-2860 for more information! 
Rescheduled Band Concert
The 7th and 8th grand band concert on Tuesday, May 19, 2015  has been rescheduled to Tuesday, May 26, 2015. The performance will start at 7:00 p.m. at The Lorain Palace Theatre. 
AJH Awards Programs
Student invitations for the AJH awards programs will be sent home with students on Monday, May 4.   The 7th grade awards program will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 20.  The 8th grade program will also begin at 9:00 a.m. and is on Thursday, May 21.   
8th Grade Summer Reading Requirement

Incoming 8th graders have a summer reading assignment. The title of the book is Life As We Knew It by Susan Beth Pfeffer. The goal is to encourage reading for pleasure and to help students transition from summer to a new school year. Please see the attached flier for more information: Life As We Knew It  

AJH Yearbooks
Students that purchased yearbooks will receive them on Monday, June 1. Students may still purchase yearbooks if they have not already done so. The cost is $20 and there are a limited amount left. Therefore, the extra yearbooks are on a first come, first served basis. To purchase a yearbook please stop in the office.

End of School Year Schedule
Grades K-8 will have a two hour early dismissal on the last day of school on Tuesday, June 2nd.  The last day for PM Kindergarten will be on Monday, June 1st.  Grades 9-12 will follow the exam schedule as developed by Marion L. Steele High School for Monday, June 1st and Tuesday, June 2nd.  The high school will have a one hour early dismissal on Wednesday, May 20th and Wednesday, May 27th. 
AJH Softball Team
Congratulations to Coach Ashley Mabry and the the AJH softball team for a perfect season! They finished their season with an undefeated record of 14-0, and won the championship game vs. Middleburg Heights with a score of 5-0.
VOTE for Amherst!
The Community Foundation of Lorain County is celebrating their 35th anniversary by holding a contest to give away $35,000 to three nonprofit organizations and three school districts with endowed funds held at the Community Foundation.  Amherst Schools has entered the contest and we ask for your vote!  Simply visit the Community Foundation's Facebook Album for school district entires and "LIKE" the Amherst photo!  Each "LIKE" equals one vote.  Please share this with neighbors, family, and friends and help Amherst Schools win the top prize of $10,000!!
NEW PayForIt App
PayForIt has a new mobile app that is available for all IOS (Apple) and Android devices.  The PayForIt Mobile App provides the ability to make payments to replenish lunch accounts and view purchase history.  The PayForIt Mobile App is a free download in both app stores! 
Amherst Summer Fun Run
There will be a 5K Fun Run on Sunday, June 7th starting at 9:00 a.m. at Amherst Steele High School. Proceeds will benefit the Amherst Special Olympics & Wellness Committee. Please see this PDF for more information and registration. 
Sandstone Summer Theatre
Sandstone Summer Theatre is holding registration for their children's summer theatre camps. Registration will be held on Saturday, May 9th from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and Thursday, May 21st from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Marion L. Steele High School lobby and Thursday, June 4th from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. in the Marion L. Steele High School cafetorium. Children must be present at registration. Sunshine Company is performing Blue Suede Paws and that is for students who have completed grades two through five. Sandstone Apprentices are performing Seussical, Jr. and that is for students who have completed grades six through eight. Washington DC Roommate Request Form
We are planning for next year's Washington DC trip on October 21-23, 2015. All students must have their roommate information by May 29, 2015 or roommates will be assigned. The permission slip and a deposit of $100.00 are also due on May 29. Please see the attached  Washington DC Permission Slip and Washington DC Permission Slip 2 for more information.
