Character Trait Program for All 7th Graders
This year at AJH we are implementing a new character trait program with all 7th graders called Anti-Virus. This proven program will help teach our students that positive influence begins by having good character, treating others well, working hard, and having the right attitude. These values will help them become the person they want to be in school and in their personal lives. This program will show students that in life, everyone comes in contact with viruses such as cheating, lying, stealing, drugs/alcohol, and bullying. What’s important is how an individual responds when they come into contact with these types of viruses. We are hoping that the program will help all students develop the anti-virus they need to make positive decisions when situations such as these arise.
Many of our students and parents probably remember Mrs. Holly Schneider. She recently retired from Nord as a 5th grade teacher. We are very fortunate to have Mrs. Schneider as our anti-virus teacher. She will be teaching the students the powerful message that is behind the anti-virus. Mrs. Schneider begins her in-class lessons this week on Wednesday in all of Mrs. Dolan’s social studies classes. Next week she will be in Mr. Lima’s classes. Throughout the year, Mrs. Schneider will be teaching a total of eight in-class character trait lessons to all 7th grade students.
Please note that this program does not cost AJH or the Amherst Schools any money. It is completely funded by Mr. Greg Ring from the Educational Service Center of Lorain County. Thank you Mr. Ring for your support towards helping young students make good decisions.
Please do not hesitate to give me (Ryan Coleman) a call or send me an email if you have any questions. If you would like to learn more information about the character values in Anti-Virus, please refer to the web page: http://www.antivirusyouth.org.
